這班已經發展成一個緊密的團隊,他們彼此支持及鼓勵,從不指責他人。
今天我看到Amber及Jason幫助兩位年幼的學生,他們確保年幼的學生知道接下來該做什麼,邀請他們參與並跟上大家的腳步。
我也看到Charlotte及Abby在團體劇場中,號召全班展開雪人部件的搜尋。在這過程中,我並未藉由稱讚她們,來暗示其他人應該跟著做。她們熱心地分享她們對這件事的理解,高喊著像是:「大家來吧,一起找雪人」,「大家看,我們應該要找雪人。」之類的話。
在這當下,我開始思考團隊合作,以及戲劇可以在這之中扮演什麼樣功能,參與的孩子將從這過程中,得到什麼樣的啟發。
我也發現在Helen O’Grady的每堂課裡,團隊合作是很顯而易見的。透過戲劇教育,人們能夠創造一個安全的環境,讓參與者可以自在地表達、嘗試並學習。這不僅幫助孩子發展繼續學習的意願與興奮,也將對他們的未來產生重大影響。
I felt very lucky to teach these students today. As I said to parents after the class, these kids have made me think about a valuable life lesson today. This class has developed into a wonderful close-knit team. They each support and encourage one another with no finger pointing or arguments. I saw this in many examples as I have progressively every week. Today I saw Amber and Jason helping our two younger students. They made sure the younger students knew what to do and they kept them involved and up to speed with the rest of the group. I also witnessed Charlotte and Abby in our story drama helping the whole class by beginning the hunt for the snowman pieces. Although, it wasn’t up to me to compliment them in order to suggest to the rest of the group the right instruction, to follow them. They were kind enough to share their understanding with the group, shouting things like “Come on everyone let’s look for the snow man” and “Look guys, we have to look for the snowman, like this”. It was at these moments I was forced to think about teamwork and just how big a role drama plays in building it and also just how big an impact it has on the children who participate. I have found that in all our Helen O’Grady classes, teamwork is constantly apparent. Through drama education one is able to create a safe space. A safe space is a place in which the participants, who work within it, can feel comfortable to express, try new things and inevitably learn because they were able to build that support system mentioned; their team. This helps the children develop willingness and an excitement to learn and this will greatly benefit them in the long run.
